This Week: St. Louis Marketing and Design Events

It’s rare to have so many industry events happening in St. Louis over a two-day span. So we thought we’d catch you up to speed with a play-by-play breakdown. With so many creative events this Thursday and Friday, April 30–May 1, you might need a little help deciding when, where and what to attend.

THURSDAY

Interactive Design Senior Show 2015
5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Maryville University

See work from the current class of graduating seniors in the Opening Reception design gallery, on display until May 15. In addition, join in on celebrating with Cherie Foster, she’s been appointed as the new Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Congratulations, Cherie.

Kegs With Legs #20
6:00 p.m. at Paradigm

The St. Louis Egotist organizes Kegs With Legs, hosted at a different creative agency each month. For April, the traveling keg party heads to Paradigm. Join countless other industry professionals for food, beer and no-agenda networking.

Speak-tails #1
6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Brennan’s

Help kick off the very first Speak-tails. Together with AIGA St. Louis, this part happy hour, part speaker series will be hosted on the last Thursday of every month. We’re excited for another great event in St. Louis – and to find out who’s speaking this month.

AIGA Saint Louis Design Show 20 Judges Panel
6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at FleishmanHillard

The night before the big Design Show 20, AIGA Saint Louis and FleishmanHillard are hosting a judges panel to discuss design topics and answer questions. Come have a drink and grab a seat to hear Amy and Jennifer Hood, Matt Stevens and José Cabaço share their thoughts on their favorite client experiences, where they find inspiration, the future of design and more.

April Happy Hour
5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Centene Center for Arts and Education

Join the St. Louis chapters of IABC, PRSA, SMPS and AMA for a spring happy hour at Centene Center. Networking in a fun, relaxed environment with snacks and drinks provided. Free for members, $10 for everyone else.

FRIDAY

Bright&Early: Jim Harper
7:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. at Regional Arts Commission

Join this month’s speaker, Jim Harper of Boxing Clever, as he discusses how to never profit in advertising. Yes, really. He’s going to teach everyone at Bright&Early how  to never make money, keep making things that are unprofitable, and to teeter on the edge of mental insanity on a daily basis, by trying to cram everything into your life and agency before you die– hopefully.

AIGA Saint Louis Design Show 20
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at COCA

For more than twenty years, AIGA Saint Louis has been cultivating great designers and recognizing the amazing work they’ve created. This year, the 20 Show is celebrating more than the last year of great work in St. Louis – come to celebrate the growth of design and the creative community in St. Louis over the past 20 years.

Pulitzer Arts Foundation Grand Opening Reception
5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at The Pulitzer

After an extended renovation period, the Pulitzer is reopening to the public with three related solo exhibitions of Alexander Calder, Richard Tuttle, and Fred Sandback. The opening reception will also feature a public commission, when I am alone, by the award-winning composer David Lang.

Intersection: IDSA 2015 Midwest Conference
May 1-2 at Hyatt Regency St. Louis

This year’s IDSA Midwest Conference will focus on design innovation at the intersection of business, technology and human values, hopefully sparking a dynamic conversation among attendees.

You’re bound to see an Atomicdust-er (or two) at some of these events – so make sure to say “hi.”
