Atomicdust’s Cover for Best New Poets 2014 Now Available
Publication timelines can be excruciatingly long, but the wait is finally over. Atomicdust’s work for the Best New Poets 2014 cover is now on bookstore shelves – both real and virtual.
Since 2005, the Best New Poets anthology has recognized and encouraged emerging poets who have yet to publish a book-length collection of poetry. Way back in 2013, we refreshed the look of the series with a striking and subversive cover that earned us recognition from the AIGA St. Louis Design Show and From Up North, who included it on their “Best Graphic Design of 2013” list.
For 2014, we had the unenviable task of topping ourselves without stretching the look too far. After all, the series still needed to look like a series. Experiments with spray paint, googly eyes (yes) and scissors eventually led us to a cover that stands on its own while perfectly complementing the original. The poems inside are pretty fantastic, too.
