Atomicdust Creates Website for Saint Louis Design Week
St. Louis is known for its variety of architectural design styles. Red brick townhouses play nicely with Renaissance Revival civic buildings and Neo-Classical arts structures, giving our beloved city a map of discovery and wonder.
The city’s like that for other types of design, too; St. Louis’ mix of innovative visual, performance and conceptual art has created a thriving community for designers of all kinds. AIGA St. Louis celebrates that artistic diversity during Saint Louis Design Week, a series of design-driven events that takes place Monday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 30.
We’re big fans of recognizing the artistic excellence in our city, so we were thrilled when Atomicdust was asked to develop the website for Saint Louis Design Week. We reinterpreted Carlos Zamora’s (Kiku Obata) rooster imagery for online use and added our own interactive touches to create a warm, informative site that highlights the calendar of exciting events and spotlights art news around town. The website contributes to a cohesive Saint Louis Design Week brand alongside other promotional materials such as the Zamora-designed posters and Toky’s forthcoming mobile app. And a big thank you to Deanna Kuhlmann Leavitt for coordinating this years efforts. The project has become a symbol for what kind of design city St. Louis really is: a collaborative one.

Saint Louis Design Week events span all interests, from photography to furniture. One of our favorite events last year, Dart St. Louis, returns for another round and we can’t wait. Throwing sharp objects at a city map and photographing our targeted location? We are so there. Check out what happened when Atomicdust wandered into Dart last year.
Here are just a few more of the exciting events Atomicdusters will be attending to celebrate our creative comrades and get a few new ideas for our own projects.
- ARTEFFECT on Sept. 24: STL DesignWeek’s opening event auctions specially designed skateboard decks to benefit youth arts programs at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis.
- DRIVE on Sept. 27: This symposium featuring four nationally recognized entrepreneurs (including Seth Burgett, president and CEO of Yurbuds) highlights the intersection of design and business.
- FORM on Sept. 29: The annual contemporary furniture, functional object, architecture and design show boasts exceptional local and national talent.
