Atomicdust Earns a 2023 GDUSA Package Design Award

Atomicdust Earns a 2023 GDUSA Package Design Award

Package design is a critical component of successful marketing, and it’s no wonder why.

In a world where we’re constantly bombarded with information, we’re drawn to items that appeal to our emotions and senses. The right package design can connect the buyer and the brand, telling a story and making a sale because of its aesthetic appeal. (In fact, one study found that 72% of American buyers are influenced by a product’s packaging design.)

We’re thrilled to announce that Atomicdust has won a prestigious package design honor from the 2023 GDUSA Package Design Awards. The annual competition celebrates the power of effective design to advance brand promises and create emotional connections with consumers. And this year’s showcase is the largest ever, featuring over 325 winning campaigns and projects across 18 categories.

So what did we win for? The packaging we created for Markwort’s line of Vettex mouthguards. Worn everywhere from the little leagues to the Super Bowl, Vettex Mouthguards keep athletes protected so they can focus on their game. But the existing packaging wasn’t standing out on shelves (or online), and it wasn’t expressing all the details that make the products beloved by athletes.

Multiple colors of the Vettex packaging design

New Vettex packaging design in various colors

The new packaging is a perfect example of how effective package design can make a big difference. Knowing that color and easily understood features are key to attracting shoppers, we opted for bold, solid-colored pouches with clear windows to showcase the product.

The package features a large logo that exudes action and strength, while the back includes an illustrated diagram highlighting the mouthguard’s unique features and benefits. We even added simple, two-step instructions emphasizing the product’s ease and convenience.

Congratulations to our friends at Markwort, and thank you to GDUSA for recognizing our team’s creativity and expertise.
